Road Trippin

A couple of weeks ago Rach and I headed out on a quick and much needed road trip to catch a football game. We dropped the girls off at her folks house and headed for Iowa, which is one of my favorite places to head. Now enroute to our destination we stopped by for some Steve's Pizza with our friends the Bothuns which is always a great time and never long enough. We had tickets for the Iowa State vs Nebraska football game in Ames. Now, as most of you know I am a die hard Hawkeye fan, so heading to Ames was no easy task. The cool part about it is that one of the guys from our church plays for Nebraska as an offensive lineman, Brent Qvale is his name. It was a sweet experience to be able to be there, sitting among parents of the players, watch an intense game and see him in the trenches. It will for sure be exciting to watch him over the next few years.

After the game we headed out from Ames, drove to Denison to eat at the local DQ, which is still my favorite DQ. After grabbing our food, we jumped back in the car and headed toward Aberdeen for our destination that night arriving at 2am. We took in church at Richland Wesleyan, getting to see my friend Jason and be a part of the Sunday mix there at the church he works at.

We ended our trip arriving home around 10pm. We were thankful for great road conditions and safe travel. Even with some amazing long hours in the car and Rachel having to spend all that time with me and no breaks, we had a great time experiencing, sharing and just being with one another.

I may be (AM) slow with the comment here... but that's what happens when we get 'old'!
I just wanted to publicly encourage you in the midst of all your crazy busy schedules...to continue taking time for 'just the two of you'!! cuz... as you already know - there is no greater gift that you can give your kiddos, than to love their mom - (which happens to be our daughter)!!!
Bless you, Chris!! :)
